You’ve seen the commercial: “you may qualify to get money added back to your Social Security check.” Many people assume it’s a scam. The Part B premium reduction — often called the “give-back” — is in fact a real Medicare Advantage benefit reported in CMS plan data. In Bullitt County, Kentucky, 24 Medicare Advantage plans include a Part B premium reduction for 2026, and the largest reduction available in the county is $184.70 per month.
How the Part B premium reduction actually works
The Part B premium reduction lowers the amount you are responsible for paying toward your Medicare Part B premium. How it shows up depends on how you pay that premium: if it’s deducted from a Social Security or Railroad Retirement payment, the reduction may appear as a smaller deduction (a larger deposit); if you’re billed directly by Medicare, it may appear as a credit or reduction on your premium bill. Two important qualifications: processing can take several months to begin, and if Medicaid or another assistance program already pays part of your Part B premium, the reduction may apply only to the portion you pay yourself. You remain responsible for any remaining Medicare premiums.

Plans differ in their provider networks, prescription drug coverage and formularies, copayments, in-network maximum out-of-pocket limits, and additional benefits — and those differences can matter far more over a year than the monthly reduction. Before choosing any plan, compare its network against your doctors, its formulary against your prescription list, and its total expected costs against the alternatives available in Bullitt County.
